If you are using the popular drug ranitidine to relieve acidity, you need to be careful. The Drug Controller of India has issued a public health warning on the anti-acidity drug ranitidine. The GSK drug is sold in India under the name Zintech, which is called by the company. In fact the Drug Controller of India has instructed GSK to investigate the fact that this drug contains carcinogenic elements. A statement issued by the Drug Controller said that many chemicals have been found in the drug ranitidine, which could be a risk factor for cancer.
Let me tell you that the drug ranitidine is used not only in acidity, but also in the treatment of many other diseases such as intestinal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophagitis. The drug is available in the market in various formulations in the form of tablets and injections.
A GSK spokesperson said they had stopped the distribution and supply of ranitidine in all markets, including India. It has also banned the production of genetech drugs made in Saraka Lab.
Warning issued- According to the news published in the English business newspaper Economic Times, the Director General of Drugs of Health Services, V.G. Somani has warned all the states of the country about the drug ranitidine. States have been directed to take action in this regard.
The FDA of the United States first detected the cancerous factors of this drug and issued a warning in this regard.
The companies manufacturing the drug in India were asked to stop production of the drug with immediate effect. Doctors have been advised not to deliver this drug to patients as per the instructions of the Drug Controller.
